Unfortunately, there will not be car parking available, in line with the Council's vision of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2030. However, there are local provisions for cycle parking.
Will the new centre have a steam room and sauna?
The new leisure centre at Canada Water has been designed to deliver top-quality facilities for our residents in a modern, energy-efficient building that saves energy and costs less to run. Leisure centres need vast amounts of energy to operate, and by designing this new site to the ‘excellent’ efficiency rating (BREAAM standard) we will not only be saving carbon emissions but also helping to reduce operating costs. As part of that design process saunas and steam rooms weren’t included, instead choosing to include world-class gym facilities, two swimming pools as well as sports courts and studios.
In our other sites we’re also investing in green upgrades to get our older leisure centres up to higher energy efficiency standards whilst using renewable energy to power the existing facilities. That includes a major programme of action including heat pumps, solar panels, and pool covers to help reduce emissions without reducing services and ultimately reducing operating energy costs in the long run.
Is there a soft play area for children?
We have soft play equipment for toddler session in the studio and /or sports hall. We also provide soft play facilities at Peckham Pulse Leisure Centre.
