Yoga for Menopause – Special One-Off Class on World Menopause Day

Join us on Friday 18 October for a unique yoga class designed specifically to support women experiencing menopause. Led by  Alison Beadle, an experienced instructor from Southwark Leisure Centres, this one-off event offers a gentle yet empowering practice that will help you manage the common symptoms of menopause through movement, breath work, and mindfulness.

What is Yoga for Menopause?

Our Yoga for Menopause class is thoughtfully curated to address the physical, mental, and emotional changes that occur during menopause. This class includes a combination of yoga flows and poses tailored to help ease symptoms such as:

  • restless legs
  • stress and anxiety
  • hormonal imbalances
  • joint pain
  • digestive issues
  • sleep disturbances

We also incorporate breath work, which plays a vital role in helping you step out of “fight or flight” mode, bringing your body back into balance. By focusing on your breath, you can reduce stress, regulate hormones, and promote overall well-being, leading to improved digestion, less joint pain, and better sleep.

Menopause can sometimes cause us to feel less confident in our bodies and abilities. This class is not just about yoga – it’s about reclaiming your sense of strength and empowerment. Through carefully guided yoga flows, you’ll reconnect with your body, build physical strength, and regain confidence.

The class is open to all experience levels. Whether you’re new to yoga or a seasoned practitioner, you’ll find a welcoming and supportive space. There is no “right” or “wrong” here – the focus is on what feels best for your body at that moment.

Class Details

We are offering four sessions on Friday 18 October for council staff and residents at the following locations:

  • Tooley Street (Council staff only): 10am to 11am
  • Castle Leisure Centre: 12:30pm to 1:30pm
  • Dulwich Leisure Centre: 4pm to 5pm
  • Peckham Pulse Leisure Centre: 6pm to 7pm

Each session will guide you through mindful movement and breath work, leaving you feeling more balanced and energised. It’s a wonderful opportunity to nurture yourself, reconnect with your body, and feel supported by a community of women going through similar experiences.
